Discovery & Brief
We mapped what makes hiring local help feel risky and what the page has to prove in the first scroll, starting from the client brief and a competitor review.
Hiring local help should feel as easy as texting a neighbor. We built a brand and landing page that turns a first visit into a first text.
Brand identity, landing page and app screens for Village, a text-first marketplace that connects homeowners with vetted local pros, from neighborhood students to licensed contractors. No app, no forms: one iMessage thread that ends with the right person for the job.
Village came to us to launch a brand and a landing page around one idea: hiring local help should feel as easy as texting a friend. The founder’s brief was clear. Make hiring feel as simple as messaging a neighbor, and show homeowners within seconds why they can trust whoever shows up at the door. The page had to serve both sides of the marketplace, busy and new homeowners who need help and the local pros who provide it, and lead every visitor to one action: starting a conversation in iMessage.
Finding a pro is easy; trusting one isn’t. Reviews are scattered across platforms and licensing is hard to verify, so every hire feels like a gamble. Sharing a phone number invites a flood of unwanted contractor calls, so homeowners hesitate to reach out at all. And nobody installs an app for a once-a-season job: download and sign-up walls kill intent. Behind all three sat one insight: homeowners don’t want another marketplace, they want a neighbor who knows a guy. The landing had to prove trust in the first scroll and remove every step between interest and a first message.
A landing page that explains Village in one scroll and moves homeowners from reading to sending their first text. Zero apps to download, four steps from the first text to a vetted local pro, and three trust signals checked for every provider: licensing, Google reviews and BBB. A brand mark built from strokes meeting at one point, neighbors coming together around a single job, and a calm green system that works from favicon to chat avatar. After launch: +76% conversations started, 2.5x time on page and a 25% lower bounce rate.
We mapped what makes hiring local help feel risky and what the page has to prove in the first scroll, starting from the client brief and a competitor review.
Three archetypes from both sides of the marketplace: the busy homeowner, the new homeowner without a “guy”, and the local pro who wants steady jobs without paying for leads.
Every section built around trust and one clear action: what Village is, how it works in four steps, why every pro is vetted, and a persistent “Chat in iMessage” button.
A burst-of-strokes mark, a Forest-to-Signal-Green palette on Inter, and photo-led service tiles that make the page feel local and approachable rather than corporate.
Desktop and mobile layouts, plus app screens for pros: earnings dashboard, schedule, verified profile and subscription plans, handed off ready for development.
